New at Nest: Recycled Glass Chandeliers

At Nest, we frequently hear from artists and manufacturers wanting us to partner with them and tend to see ALOT of new stuff. Y’know, we can all get jaded after awhile. So it was with great pleasure that we recently found Ridge Studio, the brainchild of Whistler artist Elise DeJong. She makes wonderfully unique lighting wrap chandeliers that you have to see to truly appreciate. Elises’ lighting wraps are designed to replace standard ceiling fixtures, and do so with a savvy marriage of engineering and art. The core visual element is found glass, recycled into delicate shimmering links. We think you’ll agree: this is a fresh and welcome addition to West Coast decorating options. Available in Vancouver exclusively at Nest Interiors.

About Ridge Studio Lighting Wraps

The Lighting Wrap came to life from the desire to create a one of a kind, sustainable, versatile, lighting statement. Each piece has over 150 glass rings, every one of them strong, beautiful, yet inherently imperfect. The glass originates from wine bottles collected from local Whistler restaurants. They have been painstakingly cut, fired and sanded by hand. The frames are meticulously welded and finished locally. The lighting lens is high quality cast lighting acrylic. The end result is an amazing, one of a kind statement piece with its own story.

Artist BioElise DeJong began her artisan career early with decoupage, betaking, and of course tie-dying anything. She was 8, with a very patient Mother. This early road to success lead her to a career as an Art Director in Advertising. She is now the independent artisan behind Ridge Studio, a multidisciplinary studio in Whistler B.C.

Her art education began with Fine Art at Capilano college, followed by Design at Saint Claire College. Her studies have been on going ever since.  Driven by the words: “What you imagine, you can create” the challenges have been many, from concept, material research, production to distribution. Desiring to be part of the solution Elise focuses on creating sustainable, artful products.
